The American cartoonist and writer Dr. Seuss??s The Cat In The Hat, is a funny and humorous book for children. It is the first book in which Seuss has introduced the main character, a tall and anthropomorphic cat who keeps on wearing a white and red-striped hat along with a red bow tie. The story revolves around this cat and two young children, Sally and her brother, whose lives become chaotic thanks to the actions of the cat.
Published in 1957, the story begins with the children who are left unattended at home on a rainy day. The two siblings are getting bored, and to entertain them the cat wears a hat and he transforms an otherwise dull day into a crazy one. The cat, carrying a pale blue umbrella, brings in some cheer to the household.
The Cat In The Hat is a perfect combination of crazy and funny stories consisting of wacky characters. It also reflects the signature style of the author and hence is filled with lots of repetition, rhythm, and rhyme. The entire story is written in anapestic dimeter.
