The protagonist of the story is an eight-year-old girl who despises hunting. When she gets upset she can uses her magic finger to permanently disfigure the person she is upset at. After a very awful incident with her teacher, Mrs. Winters, she swears never to use her magic finger again. The Gregg family loves hunting but despite coaxing and pleading them to stop, they would not give up hunting. So she has to use her magic finger on them. The next day, the Gregg family wake up as tiny people with wings instead of arms and their house gets taken over by human-size ducks.<\/p>\n

They are compelled to leave their house and build a nest in one of the trees in their garden. The next morning the Gregg\u0083??s have an encounter with the large ducks who show up with the Greggs guns standing under their tree and threatening to shoot in the same way that they have shot ducks. The Greggs swear never to hunt again and are transformed back into normal human beings.
\nThe next day, the girl goes to their house to find that they have completely changed. They have smashed up their guns and have even set up graves for the birds they have killed.
